The 'dhak' - a type of percussion drum is as much the center-stage of the Durga puja celebrations as are the idols themselves. Often a number of 'dhakias' or dhak players collaborate to create a rhythm unique to the Durga puja. They usually play during the 'arati' time, or at any time when prayers are being offered by the priests. This video footage was taken at the Mela Ground Durga Puja celebrations on the 'Sashti' or the sixth day of the puja.
